Account Administrator


University Village Apartments is seeking an Account Administrator whose responsibilities will include keeping records of resident financial transactions, accounts payable for general customer service responsibilities in a real estate management office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
Responsible for overall accuracy of all account receivables including:
o Posting of payments received from all applicants, current residents and past residents
o Posting of all charges to resident accounts
o Bill back utilities (where applicable)
o Process move-out charges and move-out deposit accounting during the property's designated move-out periods
o Researching and processing charge backs and returned checks
o Assessing late fees in accordance with the lease terms

Perform collections tasks on accounts to minimize delinquency including:
o Post rent reminders around the community and directly for an individual using all available means - including, but not limited to, notices, in-person visits, emails, text messages, phone calls, etc.
o Create and deliver delinquent rent notices to residents
o Make and answer accounts receivable phone inquiries and follow up
o Comply with and enforce local and state eviction laws
o Prepare and deliver accounts to 3rd party collection agencies

Maintain accurate accounts receivable in compliance with all company accounting policies, rules and regulations through:
o Reconciliation and balancing of all accounts receivable
o Completing end of month closing procedures
o Conducting financial accounting audits in conjunction with regular lease audits
o Ensure appropriate revenue and expenses are maintained
o Attend meetings to communicate status of account receivable activity
o Maintain an understanding of company lease policies
o Work closely with leasing team to ensure accuracy of rent roll

Education/Experience/Abilities:
Prefer an Associate Degree in Accounting or 2 - 4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully an individual should be skilled in using Microsoft Office - primarily Word & Excel
Internet software: Outlook and E-mail software systems and property Financial Accounting system
Yardi experience preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
